FOD MAP – What this abbreviation has to do with your intestines

Cheers for abbreviations! Because FODMAP is the welcome abbreviation for the English name for “Fermentable Oligosaccharides, Disaccharides, Monosaccharides and Polyols”, meaning: various types of carbohydrates.
These various sub-types of carbohydrates or “types of sugar” are normally absorbed in the small intestine. However, when this reaches its limits, these types of sugar migrate further down into the large intestine, where they are received in a friendly manner by various intestinal bacteria. They then use the sugar they have arrived for themselves and let it ferment nicely. We then notice these fermentation gases in the form of flatulence and abdominal pain and sometimes even in the form of diarrhea.
The FODMAP diet is not without it. For the above symptoms, it is worthwhile to follow a FODMAP diet for a certain period of time (not forever!) try it out to see if the symptoms improve. Since FODMAP is a whole group of macronutrients (carbohydrates), which are not essential but also have their meaning, this diet should only be carried out therapeutically and should not be retained forever.
A FODMAP diet change must be carried out consciously, gently and, best of all, by a specialist.
In order to achieve an improved and symptom-free quality of life as quickly as possible, it is also worthwhile
- via body therapies, how Foot Reflexology Treatmentsto stimulate and support the abdominal organs
- to relieve the vagus nerve with self-regulation techniques in order to calm the nerve network in the intestine
If you recognize yourself in the symptoms and would like to try the FODMAP diet, get in touch with me and we'll start this project together!
