Magnesium deficiency is a condition that is often underestimated despite its incidence and potentially serious effects.

Magnesium, the second most abundant mineral in the human body, plays a central role in over 300 enzymatic reactions and metabolic processes. It is essential for muscle and nerve function, the regulation of blood sugar levels and blood pressure, and the formation of bone and DNA.

Magnesium does not only exist once, but comes in many different forms and compounds.

But which is the right one now?

citrate

  • helps with digestion
  • enables quick recording
  • Is the best compound for stomach acid deficiency
  • helps stool regulation with constipation
  • Be careful with histamine intolerance: Citrates are considered histamine liberators → in my personal experience and practice, however, it is still well tolerated

gluconate

  • organic compound
  • Gluconate, citrate, etc. are both organic compounds that are absorbed better than inorganic compounds

glycinate

  • calming effect on the central nervous system.
  • good gastrointestinal compatibility

Malat

  • best used for energy boost and pain
  • Positive effect on exhaustion and pain (e.g. fibromyalgia)
  • has an alkaline and deacidifying effect

lactate

  • Lactate regulates an overly alkaline intestinal environment
  • It nourishes butyrate-producing bacteria & the intestinal mucosa

Taurat

  • Taurine fixes magnesium in the cell
  • is involved in the formation of bile acid and energy production

L-lysine

  • Lysine has an antiviral effect (e.g. for herpes)
  • preventive against arteriosclerosis and good for heart health
  • Is a precursor of L-carnitine (protein metabolism)

L-threonate

  • Can the blood-brain barrier cross
  • Compensate for memory deficiencies in chronic inflammation
  • has a supportive effect on CFS and Brainfog

Orotate

  • can lower high blood pressure
  • exercise tolerance improves vascular functions

ascorbate

  • Combines magnesium and vitamin C
  • Also known as buffered continuous-release vitamin C

oxide

  • Is an inorganic compound
  • Highest magnesium content of all forms
  • However, slower absorption due to inorganic compounds.

Carbonate

  • helps with heartburn
  • slower uptake due to inorganic compound.
  • Helpful for TOO much stomach acid (instead of stomach acid blockers)

I will select the right magnesium for you based on your needs and complaints.
